Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
Caprylic triglyceride is an incredibly widespread emollient which leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. It is produced from coconut oil and glycerin, and is light, translucent, unscented and non-oily. It is a great component which is agreeable to all skin types, and is simple to include in formulations. No surprise it is so popular. This ingredient has been in use for over 50 years for its capacity to make skin feel smoother and act as an antioxidant. Furthermore, it helps bind other elements together, and can serve as a preservative to lengthen the shelf life of active ingredients in cosmetics.
Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) are triglycerides with two or three fatty acids having an aliphatic tail of 6–12 carbon atoms, i.e. medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs). Rich food sources for commercial extraction of MCTs include palm kernel oil and coconut oil.
