An assortment of synthetic resins used to thicken and stabilize cosmetics. It’s primarily used as a viscosity enhancer or gelling agent in formulas where clarity or viscosity is required. Carbomers may also help to distribute or suspend an insoluble solid in a liquid. They are also used to keep emulsions from separating into their oil and liquid components.
