Soluble Collagen refers to natural collagen molecules extracted from fish or bovine skin. Despite its presence on the ingredient list, it cannot supplement the collagen content of our own skin due to its large size. Even if it could absorb into the middle layer of the skin, it cannot integrate into the skin’s own collagen network effectively. Therefore, using collagen on the skin for anti-aging purposes is ineffective. However, collagen has a significant water-binding capacity that makes it an excellent humectant and moisturizer. It forms a water-rich film on the skin’s surface, providing hydration to the uppermost layer of the skin and reducing water loss.
