This product contains phenoxyethanol — is it safe, and what if I’m sensitive to it?

Phenoxyethanol is an approved cosmetic preservative used widely across the skincare industry and is considered safe for most users at standard concentrations. It is, however, one of the more common preservative sensitivities, and a small number of users experience reactions ranging from mild irritation to more significant skin responses. If you have a known phenoxyethanol sensitivity, this product is not suitable for you. The INTERCELL™ Night Gel’s simple, minimal formula has proven difficult to reformulate while maintaining its performance characteristics — phenoxyethanol is currently necessary to preserve the formula’s stability. As phenoxyethanol-free alternatives, the Eye Gelee Concentrate can be used as an all-over face gel moisturizer and does not contain phenoxyethanol. If you are unsure whether you have a phenoxyethanol sensitivity, a patch test on the inner arm for 24 hours before full-face application is recommended with any new skincare product.
