Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi is a small shrub with attractive red berries, which is native to the Northern hemisphere and is also referred to as bearberry or kinnikinnick. The bearberry makes for an intriguing addition to skincare, due to its content of arbutin, a widely known skin lightening agent. The leaves of the plant contain 5-15% of it, and may be able to assist in fading discolored patches on the skin. Furthermore, kinnikinnick is an antioxidant, and also has some antibacterial properties.
