An excellent moisturizer that helps retain the moisture in the skin. Has cleaning and conditioning properties when used in shampoos. Coconut oil is natural and has been used for thousands of years all over the world, but when it is combined with synthetic chemicals, it is no longer natural. This fine oil gets a lot of bad publicity on the labels of pseudo-natural cosmetics. (See Derivative).
Coconut oil (or coconut butter) is an edible oil derived from the wick, meat, and milk of the coconut palm fruit. Coconut oil is a white solid fat; in warmer climates during the summer months it is a clear thin liquid oil, melting at warmer room temperatures of around 25 °C (77 °F). Unrefined varieties have a distinct coconut aroma. It is used as a food oil, and in industrial applications for cosmetics and detergent production. Due to its high levels of saturated fat, numerous health authorities recommend limiting its consumption as a food.
