A widely used, medium-spread ester emollient which adds a creamy texture to the formulation and creates a smooth feel when applied. It can be used as a substitute for mineral oil and is frequently combined with other emollients to generate diverse sensory outcomes. It enhances the appearance of the skin, particularly for dry skin, by decreasing water loss from the higher layers. Additionally, it functions as a solvent which helps to dissolve other ingredients and allows active components to more easily permeate the skin.
Ethylhexyl palmitate, or octyl palmitate, is the fatty acid ester derived from 2-ethylhexanol and palmitic acid. Ethylhexyl palmitate is commonly used in cosmetic formulations.
