Wild rose bushes native to the southern Andes of Chile (which includes Rosa Rubiginosa, Rosa Eglanteria, Rosa Mosqueta, and the more frequently encountered Rosa Canina) all produce a special type of oil. Like many other plant oils, it is nourishing, hydrating, and contains fatty acids including linoleic acid (44%), linolenic acid (34%), and oleic acid (14%). What makes rosehip oil stand out from other oils, however, is that it also has the active component, trans-retinoic acid (aka tretinoin). This ingredient has incredible properties, including the ability to restore and regenerate tissues, reducing wrinkles, treating acne, and even decreasing pore size.
