“Off label” uses for our natural skin care products

Usually, we’re a bit finicky about how people use our products, since we spend a lot of time creating, testing, and finalizing formulas. But we realize, how we suggest products are used isn’t the only way they can be used. We’ve gathered some interesting stories regarding extended uses of our skin care.

Our Elastin Collagen Toner is a terrific alcohol-free product that helps restore the skin’s natural pH balance. Its directions indicate it can be applied to the face, throat, and chest area – usually after cleansing these areas. But one of our salon customers recommends that her clients transfer the product into a spray bottle to carry with them throughout the day – to use as a refreshing moisturizing spray. And she also recommends they spray their entire body, especially after moisturizing with our Elastin Collagen Body Firming Lotion.

We recently received a phone call from a customer who had chosen to use our Body Firming Lotion on their face. She was calling to see if that was acceptable. The answer, we’ve never tested it for use on the face, but other than it being a bit thicker and a heavier body cream, it shouldn’t pose a problem. Provided they don’t get it too near or in their eyes.

Ultra Rich Ultra Light Daytime Moisturizer or Cream Hydratante for dry hands or body use

It should come as no surprise, that a product made for the face is perfectly safe for use on the body. Body lotions usually come in larger volumes and cost a little less per ounce, but face creams can sometimes offer additional benefits when used on the body. Our Ultra Rich Ultra Light Moisturizer is a teriffic, non-greasy moisturizer that works all over the body. We have employees who use it on their legs, arms, hands, and anywhere they have dry skin.

Similarly, our Cream Hydratante is a fantastic ultra moisturizing cream that hydrates and locks in moisture when used on super dry skin. We even recommend it can be used on feet, elbows, and dry hands. But in today’s environment, when we’re all washing our hands repeatedly, our Cream Hydratante truly stands out. It can quickly provide moisture back to your sore, dry hands, and locks in that moisture with natural candelilla wax. So it’s been a godsend for our dry cracked hands – at least for us.

Use as directed… or not – just keep it external

Reviva’s skin care is generally formulated to be safe and effective for all skin types. So it’s understandable that consumers and salon owners often use it in unexpected ways. On parts of the body that go beyond what’s intended. And while our formulators may be a bit ornery about it – even they recognize, as long as the use is external, that the majority of our products do have extended use beyond the face.
