What is a functional treatment skincare brand?

For the majority of Reviva’s history the skin care we’ve created has focused on functional treatments. So, what does that mean? Stephen Strassler began as a licensed esthetician and this led him to develop Reviva’s skin care products that focused on treating specific skin conditions. Each product was developed to be functional in its application to reverse or improve the skin care issue it targeted. Hence, functional treatment skin care products.

Stephen passion for identifying skin problems and creating products to solve them led to an explosion of development. In Reviva’s past, we had hundreds of products in our skin care line. Eventually though, clear leaders surfaced and lots of ancillary products, while terrific, were relegated to Reviva’s skincare vault (perhaps to reappear someday). What emerged as customer favorites were an assortment of great skin care products. Even still, the sheer volume of options still made it challenging to cobble together a routine.

Layering created functional treatment protocols

The concept of layering was conceived as a method for taking multiple products in their various forms (i.e., serums, creams, lotions) and combining them one on top of the other to amplify the effectiveness of each. While not exclusive to Reviva, from our early days, we’ve been strong advocates for this approach. Afterall, one product can contain only so much of an active ingredient? And sometimes key ingredients come in various forms – all of which may be beneficial in slightly different ways.

Take for example Vitamin C. It’s available in so many different variations which all provide different benefits and excel in very different types of formulas. Layering allows you to apply a Vitamin C serum while following it up with a moisturizing cream that has a different form of Vitamin C. Your skin derives benefits from both types of Vitamin C and the cumulative doses, rather than one huge percentage of Vitamin C, which poses less risk of a reaction, and each version of C can be better optimized in its formula.

Functional skincare treatments plus layering offers the best of both worlds

By combining simple, yet potent formulas targeting specific skin problems with multiple products layered during application the potential issues are minimized while results are magnified. Therefore, you’ll often see similar ingredients appearing in multiple products in our line – they’re meant to be combined and layered to maximize the effectiveness.

Spas often mimic similar protocols as treatment regimens offering cumulative benefits are the norm. And just like Reviva, except in special circumstances, it’s safer and better to use the optimum percentage of ingredients rather than formulating with the highest feasible amount. So, spas will luxuriously layer on various treatments to soothe and benefit the skin with each step. Estheticians recognize the skin can’t absorb excessive ingredients in a single step.

Skincare Results accumulate

Reviva’s mission is to create safe, effective, affordable skin care that produces visible results. With nearly fifty years under our belt, we’re clearly doing something correctly. Keeping each product lean and simple in its formulation and relying on layering (instead of higher percentages) allows Reviva to produce products usable by all skin types that offer cumulative benefits. Moreover, it allows consumers to create a personalized skin care regimens by combining the key ingredients and the actives they desire and that their needs – while minimizing the potential for skin reactions. So, if you’re looking for functional treatments that offer short-term and long-term results – look no further than Reviva Labs – The Natural Skin Care Authority.
