Can you treat nasolabial folds naturally and topically?

The quick answer is yes. Our Nasolabial Fold + Multi-Peptide Cream has proven wonderfully effective at minimizing the appearance of nasal lines and deep wrinkles – and even helping to lift and tighten sagging jowls. But we’ll examine other treatments too.

Cosmetic Surgery

Surgical correction or elimination of nasolabial folds is an option. Slackened, sagging skin which leads to nasal folds, drooping jowls, etc. is often treated via a mid-facelift. This procedure often targets lifting the cheeks and improving and/or replacing the “fullness” that’s found in more nubile faces. It can often entail cheek implants, or fat can be transferred from other body areas to replenish the fad pads that naturally deflate as we age.

In extreme scenarios nasolabial fold excision is an option, though this entails removal of skin and carefully concealing the suturing. There’s a risk of scarring, contraction of scar tissue, or flattening or unnatural appearance. Excision is certainly a more severe and drastic option.

Cosmetic Fillers or BOTOX

More common than cosmetic surgery is the use of injectable fillers to temporarily eliminate nasolabial folds and deep wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm can be injected into nasolabial folds and typically last for 9-12 months. Treatments generally cost just under $1000 depending on your region.  Collagen stimulators, such as Radiesse and Sculptra Aesthetic are used to fill-in less severe nasal folds and last for about 6-12 months. These treatments cost around $1000. There are also permanent filler options, such as Artefill, which is approved for use on nasolabial folds, but complications can be more problematic. These treatments are also more expensive, with costs over $2000.

Any type of cosmetic procedure – including mid-facelits and injectable fillers – all have potential risks associated. In each case, it’s a medical procedure which risks infection, allergic reactions, or simply underwhelming results. So any cosmetic surgery or injection should be considered carefully, weighing the risks versus the advantages.

Topical solutions

Retinoids, peptides, and silicones have all proven effective to varying degrees. Prescriptive Retin-A or over-the-counter retinoids can help to prevent the loss of collagen over time. Silicone options temporarily “fill-in” the nasal folds to lessen their appearance – which makes them a good quick-fix, night-out solution. But silicones won’t help to spur collagen growth nor reverse fat pad thinning.

Peptides have shown great promise in mimicking the results from injectables when used regularly over time. For example, our Nasolabial Fold + Multi-Peptide Cream helps to improve the overall appearance of nasolabial folds while helping to improve the plumpness of the fat under the cheeks. Similarly it helps to lessen deep wrinkles while the plumping action helps to also lift and pull drooping skin. Used regularly over time, our Nasolabial Fold Cream can help to reduce the appearance of nasal folds and wrinkles, and improve your skin’s appearance too. The effectiveness of our Nasolabial Fold Cream explains why it’s become one of our top-sellers very quickly. So as we answer at the start; yes, you can treat your nasolabial folds naturally and topically. Are the results instant? No, not like surgery or injectable fillers. But there’s much less risk and the cost savings are enormous. Topical solutions are an option but results will take time. Ultimately the choice is yours.
