Reviva Labs arrived at Expo East in Baltimore, MD with the same concerns as other exhibitors and attendees. As hurricane Florence ravaged the Carolinas and threatened to turn its fury northward, our advance team arrived and got down to business. Turned out, the weather was actually very nice for the duration of the show; though […]
Judith Strassler – our co-founder, owner, and current CEO – celebrated her unstoppable zest for life by ringing the bell three times after her triumph over cancer. Judy, who suffered the loss of her mother and husband in 2016 was blindsided with a cancer diagnosis in late 2017. But resilient as always, she vowed to […]
Kojic Acid is generally derived from one of several species of fungi (e.g., Aspergillus oryzae), or can be a by-product in the fermentation of malting rice. In lower concentrations Kojic Acid is generally considered safe when applied topically. This natural brightening ingredient is often substituted in place of hydroquinone. Some individuals can have a sensitivity, […]
In Japan, they celebrate the beauty of transience and imperfection. This tradition is called wabi-sabi. It stems from Buddhist teachings and helps to keep “perspective” on what should really matter in life. By appreciating and even celebrating things that are not perfect or that are temporary you’re better able to focus on the world and […]
Reviva Labs jumped on board social media a little later than some of our competitors. But recently, we’ve been gaining ground as skin care enthusiasts – young and old – discover Reviva Labs. At Natural Products Expo West 2018 the trend continued – many of our booth visitors identified themselves as social media influencers; or […]

We live in a pretty impatient world. We have so much at our fingertips, it can be difficult to accept that some things may take more time than we’d like. Skin care is no different. While I believe everyone reading this would love to put on a skin care treatment tonight, and wake up with […]
When Stephen Strassler started Reviva Labs in 1973, the world of skin care was very different than it is today. American skin care companies weren’t talking about (or offering) exfoliation, or ingredients like elastin – and there was almost no discussion of “cruelty-free” skin care. But Mr. Strassler was determined that Reviva Labs was going […]
This is an old memo, by Stephen Strassler, recently discovered that outlines his thoughts and philosophy on Reviva Labs. As you know, Reviva Labs is 43 years old and is one of the skin-care pioneers in Health Food Stores. But what you may not know is that Reviva’s origins are actually in professional skin-care salons. […]
It’s fun to go through beauty stores and visit department store cosmetic counters to check out the luxury beauty brands with their expensive packaging and price tags to match. Most of us – regardless of budget – have checked out these upscale brands on occasion, only to realize they’re out of our reach. Don’t pay […]
By Stephen Strasler Basically, layering skincare is the principle of applying one product on top of another – products which have a synergistic effect. Synergism simply means “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Facially speaking, with proper products layered, each item can boost and complement the action of the product applied […]
Five years before Reviva Labs was established, Stephen Strassler (Reviva’s founder) had become one of America’s earliest Aestheticians. He opened South Jersey’s first skin care salon and began importing European Skin Specialties to sell to America’s emerging Skin Salon market. Thus, in 1973 when Reviva Labs was established, along with his wife Judy, and started […]
By Stephen Strassler For many years, Reviva Labs has been urging consumers to “change the product diet of the face often.” We’ve said that the skin should not only alternate products to suit the environment or internal issues but that it’s important to alternate, to vary, day and night creams. Reviva Labs skin salon experience […]
Product effectiveness is not only a matter of the right ingredients, but the experience in blending the proper percentages, and the knowledge of the interaction of those ingredients. The wrong percentage of one active ingredient could inactivate the performance of the product. As leading dermatologist, Dr. Jeanette Jacknin, author of Smart Medicine for Your Skin, […]
In 1973 when Reviva Labs was established, the word “exfoliation” was unkown in America. Over four decades ago is when Reviva Labs introduced the first non-chemical European Exfoliant, known as “Light Skin Peel,” to Health Food Stores and many skin salons. Our unique formula and blending remains unduplicated and unrivaled today. Because Reviva has been […]
