Of course we’re big fans of all of our products. But one of the hidden gems in our anti-aging product mix is our Multi-Peptide Complex Cream. This item was one of the last items Stephen Strassler worked on and was so very excited to debut before his passing. Matrixyl™ is a peptide – palmitoyl-pentapeptide 3 to be specific – and you’ll find it in wide use in top anti-aging creams. “In early 2013 University of Reading researchers found that Matrixyl can nearly double the amount of the protein collagen needed to give skin its elasticity. The team was led by Professor Hamley, a peptide-phile who had been looking at ways to stimulate collagen for wound healing. The Reading University research was paid for by “University studentship with some additional funding by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).”1 Once the research showed Matrixyl’s benefits it didn’t take long for skin care companies to recognize the benefits of stimulating collagen production and how it could help the skin look younger. Reviva Labs has incorporated Matrixyl into several of our products, including our Multi-Peptide Complex.
Adipofill’in™ is a relatively new anti-aging ingredient but it’s shown tremendous results and can be found in the formulas of much more expensive skin care brands. Reviva incorporated it into our Multi-Peptide Complex to specifically help improve the appearance of slackened and thinning skin in the cheek and nasolabial areas of the face. Per its developer, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, “Adipofill’in is able to restore lost volume and plumpness in skin which has suffered from structural aging. The L-orithine in the Adipofill’in Complex was extracted from vegetable starch and is believed to better target adipocytes than similar treatments.”2
Progeline™, another ingredient developed by Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, helps aging skin in many ways. It helps to improve collagen synthesis, and reduces progerin5 a recently discovered negative protein reaction that appears to exacerbate skin aging. “Progeline™ clinically reduces signs of aging: sagging and wrinkles, improves firmness, elasticity and the jaw line contour for a complete remodeling effect with outstanding results on different areas of the face.”3 Reviva has found Progeline beneficial in helping to firm up and “tighten” the appearance of aging skin, specifically along the jaw line and jowl area.
Our Multi-Peptide Complex also includes SYN®-AKE a peptide that mimics the peptide found in temple pit viper venom. It’s been shown to help relax muscle contractions, specifically those of repetitive facial expressions that over time can lead to furrows and wrinkles. By relaxing these muscular contractions, the formation of wrinkles is inhibited and existing wrinkles will subside in appearance over time. “SYN®-AKE is based on a patented mechanism. It mimics the essential amino acid sequence of the Waglerin-1 functionality.SYN®-AKE‘s safety and activity has been thoroughly tested. Its effect focuses on an immediate and lasting relaxation of mimic wrinkles. In vitro the peptide is considered as an antagonist at the muscular nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (mnAChR)”4
